Public Transport

New York City Transit's bus and subway system is safer and cleaner than ever and is a great way to make your way around the city easily, efficiently and inexpensively. Use a MetroCard, an electronic fare card that you can put money on.

Taxis

Yellow medallion taxis are the only vehicles authorized to pick up street hails - don't accept a ride from anyone else!

When the center of the roof light is lit, the cab is available for hire. If the center light is not visible, the cab is already hired and cannot stop for you. If the center light is off, but the lights on either side are lit, that means the cab is "off-duty" and is not picking up fares.

All cabs can give printed receipts - this can help should you leave anything behind.
